The nature of Lanzarote is the result of volcanic activity. There is not much vegetation, and mountains dominate the landscape. Overall Lanzarote is a very nature-rich destination, and there are no urban areas or industries. Nature’s wonders can be enjoyed on the shores and inland. Tours are organized to many places, but those places can also be explored independently.
Some of the natural attractions are absolutely stunning, such as the Timanfaya National Park. The National Park is a unique place to visit. It is only a short distance away from all the favourite accommodation locations on the island. The volcanic eruptions between 1730 and 1736 formed the area, while destroying the surrounding villages and nature. The center of the natural park is the Montañas del Fuego mountain group. You can have a good view of it from the Islote de Hilario’s sightseeing spot, designed by César Manriquen. Manrique also designed the natural park’s restaurant, El Diablo.
Access to the park costs 10 €. In the park, you can walk through spectacular lava fields. When going to the natural park, you should take into account that there will be long lines before noon. In Mancha Blancha center, located in the natural park, you can see an illustrative presentation of the volcanic eruptions that happened nearly 300 years ago and how they formed the area to its present shape.
